Other than a batch of strawberries and some lettuce greens Vance and I really haven't been able to enjoy the [literal] fruits of our labor until this evening. Tonight we enjoyed two delicious bits of produce from our garden and a feast of other local and organic ingredients.
We took both the pasta and fritter recipes from 101cookbooks.com, which I love because it has hundreds of vegetarian recipes my husband and I can agree on.
We were afraid when we got a small load of squash from a friend that we wouldn't end up enjoying them (squash can be quite bland if it's not cooked right) but these two dishes presented unique and delicious ways of enjoying the fresh produce.
I added the hot peppers for a little kick, and because we weren't sure how else we were going to get to use them any time soon. It will be interesting to see what other dishes come out of this summer's harvest of fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs. We have cucumbers, more strawberries, a few types of tomatoes, and several varieties of peppers on the way!
